Full Job Description
Our Family team covers the whole of the UK, with personnel in Glasgow, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Newcastle. The Family Team has been recognised in the Legal 500, and Chambers with a number of Partners being designated as "Leading Individuals" and experts in their field, reflecting our enviable reputation for advising clients on all their family legal needs. We are proud to provide a personal, transparent and efficient service by a team which includes partners and solicitors qualified in English and Scottish Law, as well as trained Collaborative Lawyers and Mediators. We are members of Resolution and Consensus. We have a diverse range of clients and also act on behalf of public bodies. As a Family Solicitor you will be required to help develop and expand our Family Law practice in the North West. You will work closely with the head of department Fiona Davidson to ensure excellent client service. Main duties and responsibilities
- Manage own caseload of private client work with appropriate supervision
- Assist other case handlers in the team and wider department with their cases as may be required
- Advise and take instructions from clients in relation to their financial matters, children cases, domestic abuse, pre nups and cohab agreements
- Attend court on behalf of clients
- Prepare correspondence, notes and court paperwork
- Assist with marketing the services of the team and wider department
- Achieve financial targets and KPIs
- Ensure relevant deadlines and quality measures are adhered to
- Comply with relevant Weightmans client policies and procedures
- Work in accordance with Weightmans' values
- Business development This list is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role.
- NQ to 3 Years PQE
- A keen interest and wide experience in all aspects of family Law, including Children and Financial cases. Experience of high value/complex cases for high net worth individuals would be desirable
- Court experience preparing cases for the Sheriff Court and Court of Session
- Business development skills and experience - an existing network of contacts would be highly advantageous
- Good IT skills
- Good communication skills
- Good time management and organisation skills
- The ability to multi-task and prioritise
- Able to work towards strict deadlines and targets
- The ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
