Are you passionate about supporting families, building community connections and ensuring children receive the best possible start in life? We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Family Navigator to join our growing Family Hubs team. This exciting role forms part of the Department for Education's Best Start in Life and Family Hubs Initiative, which aims to improve outcomes for babies, children and families through integrated services, early intervention and accessible community support. As a Family Navigator, you will play a vital role in connecting children, young people and families with the services and support they need. Working across Havering's Family Hubs and Children's Centres, you will build trusted relationships with families, help them overcome barriers to engagement and ensure they can access the right support at the right time. About the Role As part of Havering's Starting Well Service, you will support the delivery of the Best Start for Life Offer, helping families access universal, targeted and specialist services that improve outcomes and reduce inequalities. Working directly with families and alongside professionals from education, health, social care and the voluntary sector, you will provide practical support, information, guidance and signposting. You will also undertake community outreach to engage families who may be isolated, vulnerable or facing additional challenges. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of children and families while contributing to a borough-wide commitment to early intervention, prevention and family-centred practice., The Family Navigator will:

  • Build trusted relationships with children, young people and families across Havering's communities.
  • Undertake targeted outreach and engagement with families who may be isolated or experiencing additional challenges.
  • Support families to access Family Hub, Family Help, health, education and community services through effective signposting and practical guidance.
  • Help identify and overcome barriers that prevent families from accessing support and services.
  • Develop strong partnerships with community organisations, schools, early years settings, health providers, faith groups and voluntary sector organisations.
  • Support the delivery of services that improve outcomes for children and families and reduce inequalities.
  • Gather feedback from families and communities to support service development and identify emerging needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluating service impact.
  • Work in accordance with safeguarding, information governance and health and safety requirements.

    We are looking for someone who is organised, empathetic and passionate about improving outcomes for children and families.
  • You will:
  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification or above in Early Years, Health and Social Care, Youth Work, Advice and Guidance or a related field, or have equivalent relevant experience.
  • Have experience of supporting children, young people and families within community, education, health or voluntary sector settings.
  • Have experience of working collaboratively with professionals and multi-agency partners.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Best Start for Life agenda and services that support children and families.
  • Have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Be skilled in engaging families from a range of backgrounds and communities.
  • Have excellent communication, listening and relationship-building skills.
  • Be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Be committed to inclusion, confidentiality and delivering high-quality support to families. Why Join Us?
