Kent Adult Education's Family Learning Team is expanding, and we're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Family Learning Tutor to join our successful service. If you're passionate about supporting parents and carers, enjoy creative and purposeful teaching, and want a role where every day feels meaningful, we'd love to hear from you., We are recruiting a Permanent 0.4 FTE Family Learning Tutor to deliver a range of courses, including Family English, Maths and Language (ESOL) in the Maidstone, Swale and Tonbridge areas. Our programme includes:

  • Family English, Maths and ESOL
  • Personal development and parenting
  • Basic cookery and family first aid
  • Creative and wellbeing courses with embedded English and maths
  • You will teach in community venues such as primary schools, Family Hubs, local centres, and online from home. Courses vary in length and are usually delivered in two-hour sessions per week.,
  • Paid preparation time on a 1:1 ratio
  • Three tutor meetings per year and supportive ongoing CPD
  • A friendly and collaborative team environment
  • Access to a range of KCC benefits, including health and wellbeing support, flexible working options, and career development opportunities, This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

    Hold relevant teaching and subject qualifications
  • Bring experience of working with families or community groups
  • Be passionate about making learning fun, accessible, and inspiring
  • Be able to deliver Entry Level to Level 2 programmes
  • Be confident completing standardised paperwork
  • Be willing to teach flexibly-including some evenings, school holidays and very occasional Saturday by prior agreement
  • Be able to drive as driving is required to meet the provision, delivery and quality requirements for this role. (reasonable adjustments considered)
  • Strong English and maths skills (minimum Level 2/GCSE C/4) and knowledge of the Primary Curriculum are essential, as our programmes map to the Adult Core Curriculum and may progress to Functional Skills and Trinity ESOL qualifications.
