Full Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and empathetic Family Intervention Worker to join our Intensive Families Support provision, delivered jointly by Watford Community Housing and Hertfordshire County Council. This role plays a vital part in supporting families with multiple and complex needs to achieve improved and sustainable outcomes., At Watford Community Housing, we believe that good homes provide the foundation for better lives. Working in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council, we are committed to supporting families at risk of escalating challenges. As a Family Intervention Worker, you will work intensively with families in their own homes, helping them build resilience, improve wellbeing and sustain their tenancies through tailored, strengths-based interventions. To manage and provide support to families with multiple and complex needs, providing intensive, responsive and outcomefocused support that prevents escalation, promotes safeguarding and enables families to sustain safe and stable tenancies. Key Accountabilities:

  • Working with assigned families and acting as a key coordinator within the Intensive Families Support Team
  • Delivering onetoone and group interventions that provide practical and emotional support to children, young people and adults
  • Working directly with families, often within the family home, using a family intervention model to enable positive behaviour change
  • Identifying, assessing and managing safeguarding concerns, including stepup or stepdown to appropriate services with oversight and support.
  • Supporting tenancy sustainment by helping families manage rent, comply with tenancy conditions, access digital services and prevent risk of homelessness.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to broker access to specialist support
  • Maintaining accurate, timely and confidential records in line with GDPR, policies and operational timescales
  • Communicating sensitively while using a confident, assertive and nonjudgemental approach where necessary
  • Contributing to performance information and occasionally supporting community engagement activities, including some outofhours work, Responsible to: Intensive Families Support Team Manager (Hertfordshire County Council) and Community & Customer Engagement Manager (Watford Community Housing)

  • Experience of working directly with families, children or vulnerable people in a customerfacing role
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding practices for children and vulnerable adults
  • Experience of multiagency working and coordinated service delivery
  • Excellent communication, engagement and relationshipbuilding skills
  • Ability to manage a busy workload, prioritise effectively and work independently
  • Accurate recordkeeping skills and understanding of confidentiality and GDPR
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital systems
  • A full UK driving licence, access to a car and business insurance
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends
  • Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check
  • Desirable:
  • Experience of delivering intensive family support or early help interventions
  • Knowledge of child development and family dynamics
  • Understanding of Adult and Children's Services
  • Awareness of social housing and welfare benefits
