Full Job Description

WASP is a unique service dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being of children and young people. We focus on those experiencing anxiety and low mood due to Autism Spectrum Condition or other neurodevelopmental conditions, whether diagnosed or not. Our approach is centred on fostering peer-to-peer support, building resilience, and empowering parents to confidently support their children in accessing appropriate help in the future. We work closely with families to establish clear goals and positive outcomes, ensuring that everyone feels understood, supported, and able to thrive.,

  • Provide a caring and supportive environment for children and young people with autism and neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Support parents, carers, and families, encouraging them to connect with others in similar situations.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with key partners, including health, education, social care, and CAMHS professionals.
  • Take a holistic approach in working as a specialist across internal and external teams.
  • Attend and contribute to agency meetings, discussing referral pathways and parent training initiatives.
  • Support colleagues, the wider team, and volunteers with lived experience, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Manage a busy caseload effectively, create person-centred support plans, conduct risk assessments, and adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people remain a top priority.

    Confidence in working with children who have autism and mental health conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and information management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
  • A resilient, empathetic, and enthusiastic approach with a commitment to supporting families on their journey.
