Full Job Description
Are you experienced in repair and maintenance within a laboratory or technical facility? We're looking for a hands-on Facilities Technician to join Weir and play a key role in supporting our technical and testing operations. What you'll do
- Equipment & Test Rig Operations: Maintain, service, and adapt equipment and test rigs daily to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
- Test Work & Data Collection: Conduct pilot plant and equipment test work, accurately collecting and tabulating results for engineering review.
- Laboratory & Sample Preparation: Prepare samples and perform laboratory testing, including particle size analysis and rheological characterisation.
- Fabrication & Installation: Carry out basic metal fabrication and assist with the setup and installation of new or modified equipment.
- Materials, Safety & Improvement: Manage materials and documentation in line with company procedures, contribute to safety and continuous improvement initiatives, with work primarily onsite at the Clayton facility.
- Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
Minimum of two years relevant industry experience. - Mechanical skills including basic metal fabrication and use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Nice-to-haves:
- Experience in mineral processing or related industries.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing techniques such as particle size analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. Willingness to learn and develop new skills on the job.
