Full Job Description
A Facilities Manager holds overall responsibility for the management and maintenance of the school's premises and facilities, to ensure the smooth running of the Cumnor House Schools' operations.,
- Lead all aspects of premises and facilities management across the school.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire safety, and statutory regulations.
- Act as the school's Health & Safety Coordinator, maintaining policies, records, and compliance documentation.
- Support and prepare for internal and external audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance, statutory inspections, and repair programmes.
- Manage site security, including key holder responsibilities and emergency procedures.
- Coordinate fire evacuation drills and lockdown procedures across the school.
- Conduct regular site inspections and implement improvements to maintain high standards.
- Manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring repairs, maintenance, and projects are delivered effectively.
- Lead and support site and medical room teams, providing guidance, performance management, and rota oversight.
- Oversee minor refurbishment, facilities improvement, and capital development projects.
- Support school events, lettings, and community use of facilities while identifying opportunities to maximise site utilisation.
Essential - A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required, as the postholder will be required to travel between sites.
- Facilities Management qualification or relevant operational experience
- IOSH qualification and strong knowledge of health & safety compliance
- Experience managing maintenance, contractors, and statutory compliance
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands
- Confident using Microsoft 365 and facilities management systems
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing budgets and delivering value for money
- A proactive, hands-on approach and ability to work independently
- Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours callouts and school events Desirable
- Experience within an educational setting
- First Aid qualification
- Practical maintenance skills
- Experience managing lettings or external events
