Facilities Maintenance Technician

Hayesfield Girls' School is looking for a skilled and proactive Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our Estates Team. This is a "hands-on" role essential to the safety, security, and enhancement of our school environment. You will work across our sites to deliver a high standard of repair and maintenance, ensuring our buildings remain a first-class space for students and staff.,

• Technical Maintenance: Carry out routine and emergency repairs including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor building works to a high standard.
• Project Support: Work with the Estates Manager on a rolling programme of site enhancements and major internal improvements.
• Health & Safety: Conduct risk assessments for all duties, liaise with external contractors, and ensure all safe working methods are strictly followed.
• Site Security: Act as a key-holder for the school and respond professionally to urgent facilities requests as they arise.
• Vehicle & Resource Management: Ensure school vehicles are roadworthy and clean, and manage the procurement of tools and materials for repairs.
• Digital Communication: Use electronic devices (Chromebooks/mobiles) to receive instructions, record activities, and update progress.
  
  Practical Expertise: A proven track record in trade skills (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, or decorating) and a "can-do" approach to manual tasks.
• Physical Capability: Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and move/lift objects up to 50 lbs.
• Driving: A current, clean driving license is essential.
• Organisation: Ability to manage your own workload, re-prioritise tasks at short notice, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Communication: Approachable and friendly, with the ability to use tech to communicate progress and manage customer expectations.
• Compliance: Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation in relation to premises management.
Desirable Requirements
• Relevant technical or trade qualifications.
• Experience working within an educational, leisure, or professional facilities environment.
