About the role: Facilities & Maintenance OfficerActivate Learning is seeking a Facilities & Maintenance Officer to join the team at our Guildford College keeping the campus safe, secure, compliant, and fully operational to support teaching and learning.As a Facilities & Maintenance Officer, you will act as a hands-on handyperson carrying out a wide range of day-to-day compliance and maintenance tasks across the campus. Duties include:Unlocking and securing buildingsGeneral repairsPainting and decoratingSetting up rooms for eventsMoving furnitureHealth and safety and compliance checksMonitoring site securityResponding to helpdesk requestsMaintaining external areasOverseeing waste and recycling processesThis is a varied, practical role, ideal for a reliable and proactive individual who enjoys hands-on trade related work and problem-solving in a facilities or handyperson environment.This is a permanent, full-time role working 37 hours per week at Guildford College. You'll work on an
on-call rota for one week in four, some rota based shift work to cover campuses during evenings and some support at other campuses in Surrey when needed.What do you need to be successful as a Facilities & Maintenance Officer at Activate Learning?The successful candidate will be a proactive, solutions-focused individual with a strong team ethic and a customer-focused approach to facilities support. You will be confident working independently as a handyperson, handling routine maintenance and compliance tasks while ensuring health and safety standards are met. A flexible, practical attitude and willingness to develop through training are essential.This could be a great role for someone with trades or handyperson experience who wants to develop their experience in maintenance, or an experienced property and environment or estates professional who wants to join a growing team.Essential skills and experience include:Practical experience in general maintenance, repairs
