Full Job Description

We are looking for a competent, capable facilities maintenance person who can follow instruction but utilise initiative when required.

Joining our small but dedicated team you will provide facilities maintenance support to the Town Council under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

You will be working within a passionate, positive and flexible environment with an energised team. Kingsteignton Town Council currently consists of a team of Councillors and seven staff members with varied talents, all working towards the goal of making the town an improved environment for all residents.

The position requires 'hands-on' operational experience combined with a flexible approach to meet the on-going seasonal demands. The ability to be self-motivated and work unsupervised is a key requirement of the role, the successful applicant will have the physical ability to lift, carry and perform other physical tasks daily. This job description indicates only the main duties and responsibilities of the post. It is not intended as an exhaustive list.

Purpose:
To work within the parish boundaries of Kingsteignton and its localities, providing an enhanced and responsive level of service, resulting in improvement to the environment within and any other areas as directed by the line manager.

Duties:
The exact nature of the duties will be decided by the Council from time to time and may include some or all of the tasks listed overleaf and following. Other duties may be added as considered appropriate by the Council. The job specification may from time to time be amended by agreement, between the Council and the postholder.

Kingsteignton is situated in South West Devon and has a population of approximately 11,935 residents (as at the March 2021 census).

Due to our size we changed from a Village to a Town on the 1st January 2009.

Kingsteignton Town Council works alongside Teignbridge District Council and Devon County Council to deliver public services.

Kingsteignton Town Council comprises of thirteen councillors across two wards (East and West), with elections taking place every four years.

Members are ably supported by a small team of officers who work to fulfil its plans, effectively delivering a range of services, projects and events to the community.
