Facilities Assistant- Cleaner

As a Cleaner, you will carry out a full range of cleaning duties across teaching spaces, offices and communal areas, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained. Your responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning classrooms, offices and communal areas using appropriate equipment (mopping, sweeping, buffing, suction cleaning and machine scrubbing)
• Cleaning internal surfaces including walls, windows, worktops and sanitary facilities
• Emptying bins and removing waste safely
• Carrying out specialist cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning, stain removal and descaling
• Replenishing hygiene supplies (soap, hand towels, toilet rolls)
• Conducting routine equipment safety checks and basic maintenance
• Reporting damage, faults or concerns promptly
• Locking and unlocking school premises and ensuring site security
• Maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards at all times, Contribute directly to a safe learning environment for young people

We currently have a role working 20 hours per week, 43 weeks per year based at Joseph Norton Academy- Busker Lane, Scissett, Huddersfield, HD8 9JU. This role is fixed term until the 1st April 2027, with the potential to become permanent, subject to interest in new location of the school. Successful applicants will work as part of a team to ensure a high level of customer service, and adhere to procedures such as; health and safety, COSHH and risk assessments.
