Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. The department has around 1000 staff, students and academic visitors working in a number of world-renowned population health research groups to investigate the causes and prevention of disease and lead human health forward.
We are seeking to appoint a Facilities Assistant to join our Facilities Team. The team plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our research and office environments across the Richard Doll Building (RDB) and the NDPH/Big Data Institute (BDI) Building, providing a safe, efficient and welcoming environment for staff, students and visitors.
Working as part of a busy and supportive team, you will provide a comprehensive facilities management service, delivering excellent customer service while supporting the daily operation of our buildings. Your responsibilities will include staffing reception, responding to enquiries from staff, students and visitors, carrying out regular building inspections, coordinating maintenance requests, undertaking basic repairs, supporting health and safety compliance, managing meeting room and event set-ups, assisting with office moves, overseeing post room activities, monitoring printers and liaising with contractors, suppliers and University departments to ensure a high standard of service is maintained.
To be considered for this role, you will have literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to GCSE Maths and English, experience working in a customer service environment, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You will be confident using Microsoft Office and email systems, have an awareness of health and safety regulations, and be willing to learn bespoke building management systems. Previous experience carrying out basic maintenance tasks is essential, while experience with facilities management systems, health and safety training, or knowledge of systems such as Salto or Oracle would be advantageous. Full training will be provided where required.
