Full Job Description
A welcoming and nurturing primary school in Thornton is seeking a caring and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young children at the beginning of their educational journey within a supportive and well-established EYFS setting. Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality EYFS provision in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
- Assist in planning and delivering play-based learning activities that support children's development.
- Support children's communication, language, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and provide targeted support.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment.
- Observe and support the assessment of children's progress through EYFS observation and tracking systems.
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social skills.
- Support children with additional needs, including EAL or SEND, where required.
- Assist with classroom organisation, resources, and continuous provision.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and the wider EYFS team.
Experience working with children in an EYFS, nursery, or early years setting. - A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic approach.
- Good understanding of child development and early years practice.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to engage children through play-based learning.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent). Desirable
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Early Years qualification.
- Experience supporting children with SEND, EAL, or additional needs.
- Knowledge of phonics and early literacy/numeracy development.
- Experience using EYFS observation and assessment tools.
- A passion for early years education and outdoor learning.
