EYFS Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and nurturing primary school in Thornton is seeking a caring and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young children at the beginning of their educational journey within a supportive and well-established EYFS setting. Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality EYFS provision in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
• Assist in planning and delivering play-based learning activities that support children's development.
• Support children's communication, language, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and provide targeted support.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment.
• Observe and support the assessment of children's progress through EYFS observation and tracking systems.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social skills.
• Support children with additional needs, including EAL or SEND, where required.
• Assist with classroom organisation, resources, and continuous provision.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and the wider EYFS team.
  
  Experience working with children in an EYFS, nursery, or early years setting.
• A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic approach.
• Good understanding of child development and early years practice.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to engage children through play-based learning.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
Desirable
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Early Years qualification.
• Experience supporting children with SEND, EAL, or additional needs.
• Knowledge of phonics and early literacy/numeracy development.
• Experience using EYFS observation and assessment tools.
• A passion for early years education and outdoor learning.
