Full Job Description

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the department.
  • Work collaboratively within the team to ensure continuous cover is maintained at all times, supporting the delivery of an essential service.
  • Provide reception cover for clinics and Eye Casualty, delivering a professional and patient focused service.
  • Prepare and organise patient notes for Eye Casualty clinics in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Process clinic outcomes accurately and efficiently, including adding patients to the relevant waiting lists where required.
  • Use a range of hospital systems, including Nervecentre, Medisight, Medirota, and other clinical and administrative platforms.

These roles require a professional, tactful and sensitive approach particularly when communicating with patients and multidisciplinary clinical teams. A strong commitment to confidentiality and maintaining high standards of data quality is essential.
  • Applicants must be able to work effectively under pressure, manage and prioritise their workload and demonstrate excellent organisational skills. The ability to identify issues and escalate concerns appropriately to the Team Leader or Admin Manager in a timely manner is also required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent customer service and IT skills, as well as the ability to use initiative and exercise discretion when required. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a positive approach to teamwork and service delivery. If you have the skills, experience and commitment to contribute to a dynamic and forward-thinking team we would be pleased to hear from you.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030). We have four primary goals:
  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence
  • And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities. Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team
  • This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve. About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust: https://www.uhleicester.nhs.uk
