External Examiner

The External Examiner will be required to provide external oversight for changes in our curriculum model. They will also be involved in assessment panels (at least one per year) and be available for consultation on assessment and curriculum issues. All appointments are subject to approval by the University External Examiners Nomination Panel. The University runs regular induction seminars for recently appointed External Examiners. The aim of the seminars is to introduce External Examiners to the regulations and procedures of the University of Portsmouth, as well as providing an opportunity to meet University staff and other External Examiners. Where relevant, you will also be invited to visit and attend additional sessions face to face or online.

The School of Health and Care Professions at the University of Portsmouth are seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (Adult). Current experience in apprenticeship provision in higher education is desired and registration with the NMC is essential . Applicants should:

• be actively involved in education and training programmes with experience in degree apprenticeship programmes;
• hold relevant academic and/or professional qualifications to at least the level of the qualification being externally examined, with extensive practitioner experience;
• meet criteria set by professional, statutory or regulatory bodies;
• be aware of Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for education
