Experienced Preadmission Staff Nurse

The preadmission service works with the anaesthetic team but also the multi-disciplinary team within the hospital and externally to ensure the child and family have the best care possible A comprehensive preadmission service will be available for patients and their families who require an elective admission requiring a general anaesthetic to Birmingham Children's Hospital. Work in partnership with the child or young person and family and the multi-disciplinary team to deliver an effective and co-ordinated pathway for admission to BCH. To participate in the development and management of the day-to-day delivery of the preadmission service for the trust. To deliver safe, effective and high-quality care to the child, young person, and their family, ensuring they are prepared and fit for their admission and anaesthetic.,

• Work autonomously in an allocated clinic using clinical assessment skills to ensure the child or young person is fit for their admission and anaesthetic.
• Plan, implement and evaluate care in relation to the needs of children and their families and the implications of admission to hospital.
• Identifying any issues that may prevent the admission to hospital and help resolve as appropriate.
• Work effectively as part of the multi-professional team, using different communication skills.
