Full Job Description
The Legal Counsel will partner with regional and local legal teams, as well as cross-functional business units, to provide strategic commercial legal advice. Responsibilities include participating as a key member of the India Affiliate Management Team, contributing to strategic planning, and supporting various legal workstreams. The role requires drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of legal agreements, such as vendor, distribution, and marketing contracts. The candidate will proactively identify legal risks, provide expert advice, and resolve disputes while effectively managing external counsel when necessary. Additional tasks include enhancing AbbVie's legal framework, developing standardized templates, and delivering impactful legal training to ensure compliance and business alignment.
AbbVie is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to support its pharmaceutical business in India and the wider India region. This strategic role requires a professional with strong legal expertise, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders. The Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal guidance, participate in strategic planning, and support decision-making processes to enable business growth while ensuring regulatory compliance. The role also involves working on complex legal matters across various geographies and contributing to innovative solutions that align with AbbVie's business objectives., Applicants must hold a law degree from a recognised university and possess at least 10 years of post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in both law firms and in-house counsel roles, preferably within multinational organisations. Prior experience in the pharmaceutical sector and familiarity with industry-specific regulations are advantageous. Knowledge of antitrust, compliance, data protection, and intellectual property will be considered a plus. Strong communication, influencing abilities, and decision-making skills are essential, along with the capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment. High ethical standards, integrity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are key attributes for success in this role.
