Full Job Description

Contract: Permanent, part-time, 32 hours per week, term time only (40 weeks per year)

New College Pontefract is looking for an organised and detail-focused Exams Assistant to join the Trust Exams Team and help deliver a high-quality, efficient and effective examinations service.

Working primarily at New College Pontefract, you will support the administration, organisation and smooth running of internal and external examinations.

This is a varied role covering everything from preparing exam rooms and supporting invigilators to handling examination papers, producing seating plans, maintaining records and helping with results days. You may also be required to support examinations at other sites when needed.

About you

You will be an experienced administrator with strong organisational and communication skills, good attention to detail and the ability to remain calm when working to deadlines. Experience of working within examinations administration, using Microsoft Word and Excel to an intermediate level and maintaining accurate filing and computerised records is essential. You will also understand the importance of handling confidential information appropriately and delivering a professional, customer-focused service.

Flexibility is particularly important in this role. Working hours will vary throughout the year to reflect the demands of the examinations calendar, with some weeks requiring full-time hours and others fewer than 20 hours. There will also be some requirement to work during college holiday periods, although your salary will be paid evenly across 12 months.

Why join New College Pontefract?

New College Pontefract is an outstanding place to work. As the founding member of New Collaborative Learning Trust, the college is part of a supportive and ambitious organisation with a strong reputation for staff development and career progression.

Benefits include access to high-quality professional development, an attractive pension scheme, a cycle to work scheme and technology scheme, alongside a strong commitment to staff wellbeing. NCLT was also named Employer of the Year at the 2023 MAT Excellence Awards.
