Salary: £44,110 - £49,140 inclusive of all allowances


Contractual hours: 35


Work Pattern: e.g. Monday to Friday, 9:15am - 5:00pm


Basis: Full-Time, Fixed Term contract - 6 months

An exciting opportunity for a professional events manager with strong commercial business acumen, who is a highly organised individual with excellent customer service and communication skills to join our high-profile events team.


The Mansion House events team is responsible for organising events for external bodies including Government departments, charitable and commercial organisations. You will be joining the City of London Corporation, the governing body of the Square Mile - the world's leading finance centre.

The Mansion House Events team manages a busy annual events programme ranging from high-profile external commercial events and large charity fundraisers to major keynote addresses and seminars. In addition, supporting the delivery of events that meet strategic Corporation objectives and share messages through the Mayoralty and Shrievalty.


Our aim is to maximise the commercial use of the venue while promoting and safeguarding the reputation of the City, the Mayoralty and Shrievalty, and supporting the delivery of departmental and organisational aims and objectives.


To do this, we need our venue to be pro-actively managed to maximise utilisation of all available dates and venue spaces. The successful candidate will have experience of managing a venue in a corporate / commercial environment.


High quality written and oral communication skills, verbal and written and excellent customer service, as are strengths as a team player, good interpersonal skills and computer literacy. Knowledge of new technology and market trends would be a significant advantage.


The post holder will represent the events team at external meetings and events, liaising with internal and external contacts at all levels. An ability to communicate effectively in person and on paper is an essential part of this role.


Main Responsibilities:



  • Support the delivery of the Mansion House Commercial Events strategy, reviewing and updating the plan, monitoring business and income against marketing activity and analysing converted business.

  • Manage incoming enquiries and bookings via the events inbox and diary system, maximising commercial use of the venue and work closely with clients on the planning, logistics and delivery of their event.

  • Develop strong working relationships with external event suppliers, such as; Production companies, event agencies, dressing suppliers (florists, lighting) etc.

  • Research and implement improvements to the operation to increase efficiency and capitalise on bookings.

  • Support the management of reported data relating to revenue, hire charges and venue improvements.

  • Taking the lead on promotion and marketing opportunities, including: showcase events, venue website and promotional groups (UVL).

  • Deputise for the Commercial Events Team Senior Manager as required.


Experience of managing a venue and organising corporate/commercial events. Sales and marketing experience.
