Full Job Description

At CGI, we are helping to shape the future of the UK's Space, Defence and Intelligence sector through innovation, trusted partnerships and mission critical systems. Events play a vital role in how we build relationships, showcase our expertise and strengthen our position in this strategically important market.

As our Events Consultant, you will lead the planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of high profile events that support business growth, enhance CGI's brand and create meaningful engagement with clients, partners and industry stakeholders. Working as part of the Space, Defence and Intelligence Marketing team, you will manage CGI owned events, coordinate our presence at sponsored conferences and exhibitions, and deliver selected internal events that bring our people together around strategic priorities.

This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work closely with business leaders, marketing colleagues, business development teams and external suppliers to ensure every event delivers an exceptional experience and measurable commercial value. You'll have the opportunity to shape our events programme, introduce new ideas and help position CGI as a trusted partner across the Space, Defence and Intelligence community.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This role follows a hybrid working model with a base location in Reading, Chippenham or Leatherhead and will require regular travel across the UK to support event delivery.

Your future duties and responsibilities

As Events Consultant, you will co ordinate the planning and delivery of an integrated events programme that supports CGI's growth ambitions across the Space, Defence and Intelligence sector. Working with marketing, business development and leadership teams, you will ensure every event is professionally executed, aligned to business objectives and delivers measurable return on investment.

You will manage the end to end delivery of CGI hosted client events, executive roundtables and networking opportunities, while also coordinating CGI's presence at key industry conferences and exhibitions. From supplier management through to logistics, delegate experience and post event reporting, you will oversee every stage of the event lifecycle.

Working with the marketing team, you will ensure events are fully integrated into wider marketing activity, supported by effective promotion, engaging content and timely follow up that helps generate pipeline and strengthen client relationships.

Key responsibilities

. Plan and deliver

Lead the end to end planning and delivery of CGI owned external events, sponsored conferences, exhibitions and selected internal events. Deliver professional, engaging and memorable experiences for clients, partners, prospects and employees while maintaining CGI's brand standards.

. Manage exhibitions

Coordinate CGI's participation at industry exhibitions, including stand management, supplier liaison, logistics, branding, delegate engagement and on site delivery.

. Collaborate and influence

Partner with business leaders, business development teams and marketing colleagues to ensure events align with strategic priorities and commercial objectives.

. Manage suppliers and budgets

Source and manage venues, agencies and suppliers, negotiate contracts and oversee event budgets to ensure value for money and high quality delivery.

. Measure Success

Work with the team to define event objectives, monitor attendance, engagement, lead generation and ROI, providing clear reporting and recommendations to optimise future activity.

. Drive Continuous Improvement

Identify new event opportunities, introduce best practice and continually enhance CGI's events programme through innovation and lessons learned.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring proven experience delivering high quality B2B/B2G events within a corporate environment. You'll be highly organised, commercially aware and confident managing multiple projects simultaneously, often within tight timescales.

You'll enjoy building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels and be equally comfortable working strategically or managing the operational detail required to deliver exceptional events.

Experience within technology, defence, government, aerospace, professional services or another complex B2B sector would be advantageous.

Essential skills

. Proven experience planning, delivering and measuring corporate events, conferences and exhibitions from concept through to completion.

. Strong project management, budget and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.

. Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior business leaders.

. Willingness to travel throughout the UK to support event delivery.

Desirable skills

. Experience delivering events within the Space, Defence, Intelligence, Government, Technology or Professional Services sectors.

. Knowledge of security requirements and protocols associated with defence or government events.

. Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Events Management, Communications or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
