The Role
As an ESG/Sustainability Consultant, you will support a major UK financial services organisation to define the blueprint and roadmap for high-quality sustainability and ESG reporting. You will translate evolving regulatory and sustainability requirements into clear target-state reporting processes, data needs, controls and governance, including considerations for federated data architectures that bring together distributed data sources. Working closely with business, risk, finance and technology stakeholders, you will facilitate alignment and produce practical deliverables (eg, gap assessments, target operating model inputs, and a delivery roadmap) to enable accurate, standards-compliant reporting.Your responsibilities:
Analyse and interpret sustainability standards and ESG disclosure frameworks, translating requirements into practical reporting deliverables, controls and timelines.
Support end-to-end digital sustainability reporting, including requirement definition, data mapping, validation rules, workflow design and reporting outputs across federated data sources.
Plan and facilitate stakeholder workshops to gather requirements, align interpretations, resolve gaps, and agree ownership across functions.
Ensure standards compliance and reporting accuracy by defining data quality checks, reconciliation steps, evidence requirements, and review/approval controls.
Drive project coordination across workstreams (planning, RAID management, status reporting, dependencies) and contribute a consulting mindset to shape options and recommendations.
Partner with technology and data architecture teams to shape the target-state reporting architecture (process, data flows, controls) and define a pragmatic delivery roadmap, dependencies and sequencing.
Develop clear documentation (methodologies, process maps, data dictionaries and reporting manuals) to support consistent, repeatable disclosures.
Support engagement with internal/external assurance by preparing evidence packs, traceability, and responses to review queries.
Identify and assess opportunities to simplify and strengthen reporting (process, data and control improvements), translating findings into prioritised roadmap recommendations and indicative benefits.Your Profile
