Full Job Description
The role be based in Honiton, UK and will primarily support our work in Environmental Claims, dealing with land-based oil spills and other environmental incidents, investigation and remediation of contaminated land.
The work involves an interesting mix of site-based and office work and a requires an adaptable approach to assist with urgent response situations. We operate a 24/7 response service for our clients, as such you may be required to work out of normal operating hours, for which you are compensated.
Site duties will include:
Assisting with emergency inland oil spill response, including installation of absorption booms, pumps, vapour extraction fans, aeration systems etc
Installation / monitoring of in-situ treatment systems
Assist in undertaking groundworks, trial pitting etc
Prepare & send samples to accredited laboratories
Liaise with contractors
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Procedures
Provide accurate written site notes and feedback to the Project Manager from site
Soil and Groundwater sampling
Operate scientific equipment
Office based duties will include maintenance and cleaning of equipment, vehicles and stores, updating maintenance records and assistance with project preparation.
The successful candidate could come from a range of different backgrounds, but a willingness to work outdoors and experience of any of the following would be a distinct advantage;
Oil spill response,
Groundworks, construction, landscaping
Environmental sampling,
Equipment or building maintenance,
Candidates with a CSCS card are encouraged to apply, albeit the company will provide the necessary training.
Our key requirement is for a confident, personable and practical individual with a flexible attitude to work. Good communication and problem-solving skills are essential. An ability to use common computer software (Word, Excel) is required, as is the ability to work outdoors as an effective member of a team and on your own initiative.
The job will require willingness to travel across the South West region and occasionally further afield; a full UK/EC driving licence is essential.
£28,000 - £30,000, dependent on experience
