Full Job Description
The position carries out a broad range of Environmental Health duties in relation to housing. You will investigate complaints about poor standards of accommodation and will carry out housing inspections. You will draw up schedules of work and serve legal notices, carrying out compliance visits to ensure works are completed. You will carry out licensing inspections for houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) and will enforce HMO licensing requirements. You will liaise with tenants, neighbours, landlords and contractors to ensure that property standards are upheld.
Demonstrable experience in the inspection of commercial and domestic premises for the purposes of regulatory compliance
Educated to A Level standard / NVQ3 or Equivalent (note that this post would be suitable for and Environmental Health Professional or Housing Surveyor)
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload and perform well under pressure
Ability to drive / travel throughout Bridgend / Cardiff / Vale or between locations if appropriate.
Able to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends, both planned and in an emergency
You will need to be able to communicate effectively with complainants, tenants, landlords and contractors.

The Housing Enforcement Team is responsible for upholding housing standards particularly in the private rented sector. The team deals with complaints from tenants about their living accommodation and has a particular focus on the licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation. Additionally, there are duties relating to statutory nuisance, filthy and verminous premises and problem empty properties.

Pay Details: Grade 7 £32,597 to £36,363 p.a.
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday
