Environmental Health Officer

We are seeking a talented, dynamic and flexible professional who will play a key role in the delivery of better regulatory services for Crawley Borough Council.

As a member of the Food Safety team you will carry out proactive and reactive food hygiene inspections and interventions, investigate food complaints and give advice on all food related issues. You will be required to investigate cases of infectious diseases and food borne disease. You will also be involved in the development and delivery of public health initiatives and training.

Experience of the investigation of health and safety complaints and RIDDOR's would be desirable.

The successful candidate must have recent operational experience of working within food safety and possess the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to be able to undertake investigations, interventions and enforcement in this field.

As an EHO or Food Safety Officer you will be appropriately qualified with a degree or diploma in environmental health and be registered with the Environmental Health Officer's Registration Board or equivalent. You will have recent operational experience in food safety. Recent Port Health experience would be a distinct advantage.

Port Health allowance and essential car user allowance up to £1,239 (subject to review)

Satisfactory clearance of a Gatwick Airside Security Pass and Basic Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check will be a condition of employment.

Contractual overtime (applicable to suitably qualified staff only) to cover the imported food control service at Gatwick Airport in accordance with the following provisions.
