Full Job Description

Your role will involve the following service provision:

  • Inpatient care
  • - Providing medical management for all ENT patients at the John Radcliffe/Churchill hospital
  • Emergency ENT service
  • - Including registrar on-call bleep, providing support to on Call SHOs and managing referrals internally (from A&E and other wards) and externally (from primary care and referring hospitals) - Assessing and managing patients on the GP Referral Unit (acute ENT referrals)
  • Outpatient care
  • - Regular ENT clinic based on the sub-specialty firm you are working for. - Supporting Foundation doctors, GP trainees and clinical fellows in running emergency clinics.
  • Theatre
  • - Approximately 2 whole days of theatres per week for improving surgical skills under consultant supervision · In addition, there will be opportunities to be involved in the following for educational and training purposes
  • + Specialist out-patient clinics + ENT operating lists + Departmental teaching sessions + Clinical Governance meetings + Audit, Research and Quality Improvement + Medical Student teaching (affiliation with Oxford University) There is plenty of support to participate in projects within the department. Previous incumbents have been successful in signing off their Alternative Certificate of Foundation Competence and joining a training programme.

    Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for a Senior Clinic Fellow in the ENT Department from 7^th of October 2026 for 12 months. The start date is negotiable. The candidate must have worked in the UK or Ireland and have registrar level (ST3 and above equivalent) specialist training in ENT. They must be fluent in English,
  • Full GMC with licence to practice
  • Medical degree
  • MRCS
  • Desirable criteria
  • FRCS(ORL-HNS), General training in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck surgery
  • Minimum 1 year NHS experience 2 years specialization in ENT (ST3 or above)
  • Commensurate with level of experience; knowledge of limits
  • Desirable criteria
  • Interest in research & audit with publications, Sufficient leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal skills to effectively undertake the role of ENT registrar in a busy teaching hospital.
  • Good personal and interpersonal skills
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Communication skills should be highly developed.
  • Some experience of teaching undergraduates and trainees
  • Experience of routine clinical audit
  • Desirable criteria
  • Computing skills: ability to use word processor, spreadsheet programme and web browser.
  • Management training and experience, Driving License, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
