Full Job Description

The Engineering function at the GSK Ware manufacturing and supply site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation, and controls systems for all production operations (ensuring safety, quality and production targets are achieved). We are looking for an enthusiastic Engineering Manager to join our Oral and Solid Dose (OSD) medicines manufacturing team at the site. Reporting into a Value Stream Director, you will be a member of the Value Stream Leadership team, accountable for managing an operational engineering team of circa 15 people. The operational engineering teams are responsible for maintenance and break-fix of all equipment within the production area, as well as utilising data to problem solve and look for continue improvement opportunities (to improve performance of the equipment). It is expected that Engineering Managers develops a depth of understanding for their unit operation, as well as manage via their directly aligned engineering team and matrix aligned domain specialists to achieve performance goals and deliver strategic goals and processes. This includes making improvements and delivery of the Site strategy. Engineering Managers are also the key point of contact for regulatory auditors during inspections.,

  • Management of the engineering team aligned to the unit operation to deliver Safety, Quality, Compliance, Performance and Culture Objectives (for Engineering and Site Strategy).
  • Ensuring team skills are maintained and developed to maintain and improve capacity and capability, including effective coaching of the team.
  • Ensuring minor capital projects which are managed by your team meet agreed level of quality, cost and time, support planning and prioritization of capital investment through input into the development of site capital plan and site facility plan applicable to area of operation.
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with external specialist companies, internal technical authorities and global platform specialists engaged to deliver projects, improvements or provide support services.
  • "M2 Building": A key element of this Operational Role over the next 2-3 years is to facilitate the people/change management process of moving from the current OSD manufacturing building ("M") to the new purpose-built state of the art manufacturing plant ("M2 Building"). This is a unique opportunity and requires a capable person who is forward-thinking, collaborative, and able to provide clear direction during an exciting time while managing well through a time of change.

    This role would suit a motivated person who has strong experience of leading an engineering team, preferably within GMP or highly regulated manufacturing-based environment. As a professional engineer (Chartered or working towards chartered status), you will have a strong track-record of delivery in engineering technical or management positions. You will be required to demonstrate an ability to understand and translate strategy, engage and empower the team to deliver the business aims. You will be focused on providing solutions and continuous improvement., Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form, and the site has circa 1,500 highly motivated and capable people working at it. The Ware site holds a unique position in our network a site responsible for launching the company's pipeline of new medicines in oral and solid dose forms, as well as operating a high-volume commercial production for respiratory devices.,
  • Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer (or currently working towards achieving Chartered Status)
  • Engineering degree.
  • Relevant experience within an engineering / manufacturing context.
  • Demonstrates understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)
