Full Job Description

As an Engineering Apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience across our manufacturing departments, including Body Manufacturing, Tip Assembly, PCD Finishing, Mill Turn and Quality. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll develop the practical and technical skills needed to build a successful career in precision engineering while helping to manufacture world-class cutting tools used by customers across the globe
- Gain a broad understanding of precision engineering through structured on-the-job training.
- Rotate across different manufacturing departments to develop a wide range of engineering skills.
- Work alongside experienced engineers to learn industry best practices.
- Learn to set up, operate and programme specialist CNC machinery, including Walter, Turn Mill, Studer and Vollmer machines.
- Develop skills in CNC grinding and precision machining techniques.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Carry out precision measurement, inspection and quality checks.
- Understand manufacturing processes and production planning.
- Learn CNC programming, tooling selection and machine set-up.
- Assist with proving out new jobs and optimising machining processes.
- Create and maintain tooling sheets, machine sequences and production documentation.
- Apply problem-solving techniques to improve quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Gain experience with CAD (where applicable), metrology and CMM inspection.
- Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S.
- Follow all health, safety and safe working procedures at all times.
- Manufacture high-performance precision cutting tools using advanced engineering technology.
- Complete industry-leading apprenticeship training with Make UK while developing practical workplace skills.
- Build the knowledge and experience required to progress into a permanent CNC Machinist or Engineering Technician role. Working Week At Company: Mon -Thurs 7:30 AM - 16:30 PM Friday: 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM
- - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification. You'll enjoy solving problems, take pride in producing high-quality work, work well as part of a team and be committed to developing a long-term career in engineering. Skills Required

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
- Basic IT skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- An understanding of the importance of health & safety and quality standards
- A positive attitude, reliability and enthusiasm to develop a long-term career in Training to be Provided Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you'll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with your employer and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including:
- Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training - in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
- Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
- Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
