Full Job Description

Join the Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell as an Engineering Apprentice and be part of a team supporting world-leading research. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to help maintain essential facilities and equipment used in scientific discovery.

This is a hands-on role where you'll learn as part of a supportive team, building practical skills across mechanical and electrical systems while contributing to work that has real-world impact.

What you will do
- Support the maintenance and installation of engineering systems
- Work as part of a team to keep facilities operating effectively
- Learn to diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality technical support for research

Training and development
- Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship (dual discipline) - https://skillsengland.education.gov.uk/apprenticeships/st1443-v1-0
- Training delivered in partnership with Oxfordshire Advanced Skills (OAS) - https://www.oas.ukaea.uk/apprenticeships/level-3-apprenticeships/
- Combination of block-release training and workplace experience
- Opportunity to develop skills in mechanical and electrical engineering

5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent
- Interest in engineering, science or technology
- Willingness to learn and contribute as part of a team
