Engineering Geologist

You'll work alongside recognised technical specialists on challenging infrastructure and development projects, combining field investigation, geological interpretation and engineering design to deliver practical solutions in the UK and internationally. Purpose & Scope of the Role As an Engineering Geologist, you'll contribute to feasibility, assessment and design across engineering geology, geotechnical, hydrogeological and geo-environmental projects. Your work will span roads, rail, buildings and land development, with exposure to GIS terrain evaluation, geohazard and slope stability assessment, rock excavation, retaining structures, foundations and ground improvement. Your Impact in this position From the outset, you'll have opportunities to take practical responsibility for both site and office-based work. Working within multidisciplinary ground engineering teams, you'll plan and undertake investigations, interpret geological and geotechnical information, prepare technical reports and contribute to detailed design. You'll also engage with clients and support construction supervision, developing broad technical and commercial experience while learning from leading specialists in the industry.

• Bring a strong interest in engineering geology, supported by relevant academic and/or industry experience.
Technical Analysis & Design
• Apply keen observational, analytical and design skills to complex ground engineering challenges.
Technical Communication
• Communicate engineering information clearly and confidently through high-quality written reports and professional discussions.
Site & Field Delivery
• Be comfortable combining office-based technical work with practical site investigations and construction activities.
Adaptability & Collaboration
• Work effectively across specialist teams and be flexible about site-based assignments and opportunities to support overseas projects.
Training, Qualifications & Experience You'll ideally hold a strong first degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering. A higher qualification in Engineering Geology, Mining Engineering or Ground Engineering would be advantageous. Coffey provides active mentoring, ongoing technical development and support towards professional chartership through the Geological Society of London, IoMMM or ICE.
