Engineering Fitter Apprentice

Introduction

Gem Cable Solutions is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic apprentice to join our production team as a Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to gain industry experience while working towards a nationally recognised level 3 qualification.

What You'll Do

You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technicians, learning the skills needed to manufacture high-quality cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, and electromechanical products used in industries including Aerospace, Telecommunications, Broadcast, Transport, and Satellite Communications

As an Engineering Fitter Apprentice, you'll receive structured training and hands-on experience across our production department. You will learn how to:

• Manufacture cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, looms, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and build instructions.
• Carry out cable preparation activities including cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering.
• Assemble connectors, terminals, and electrical components.
• Apply protective materials such as heat shrink and sleeving.
• Use specialist hand tools and production equipment safely and effectively.
• Complete inspections and quality checks on finished products.
• Maintain production records and manufacturing documentation.
• Follow health, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
• Support continuous improvement activities within the production team.

Training Outcome

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities to progress into a permanent Engineering Fitter or Production Technician role within Gem Cable Solutions, with further development pathways available across engineering and manufacturing.
