Engineer (Traffic Engineering) x3

The Traffic Engineering Team is responsible for developing and delivering highway safety and traffic management solutions across Calderdale. Our work ranges from highway improvement and sustainable transport projects to public realm schemes and developer-funded highway works.

As part of the team, you'll contribute to the delivery of projects funded through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) programme (and its replacement), as well as a growing portfolio of highway and infrastructure projects.

The Traffic Engineering Team comprises of two sections, and we are looking for people to join either team:

You will be delivering traffic engineering schemes and contributing to improvements in highway safety. Work would include preparing feasibility studies and design solutions, developing and progressing TROs and responding to queries from elected Members and the public, and acting as a focal point for technical advice.

Your key responsibilities and duties will include

Preparing design solutions and develop innovative and practical highway safety and improvement schemes. Ensuring that the Council complies with legislative requirements, Undertake work programming, estimating, supervision and reporting on scheme progress Provide technical advice to elected Members, colleagues and members of the public. Work collaboratively with internal services, developers, consultants and external stakeholders. Mentor trainees and other staff. Are you an experienced highway professional looking to take the next step in your career? Do you have a passion for safety and delivering innovative traffic engineering solutions that make a real difference to communities?, Proven experience in traffic engineering. A strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and local authority procedures. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience delivering engineering projects from concept through to implementation. Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
