Engineer

Job Description We are looking for a Senior Engineer to own the reliability and fiscal health of our Data and AI ecosystem. You won't just be "fixing" pipelines; you will be the architect of the monitoring frameworks that ensure our AI models and data products are performant, observable, and cost-efficient. You will divide your time between high-impact software engineering projects and building a world-class observability platform on AWS.

This is a hybrid role, requiring three days per week in our Newcastle office.
Key Responsibilities Observability Architecture: Design and lead the implementation of the end-to-end telemetry strategy (logs, metrics, and traces). You will ensure the entire stack is transparent and that system health is measurable at every layer.

FinOps & Cost Engineering: Own the strategy for cloud cost attribution and optimization. You will build the frameworks to track the specific ROI of AI workloads and lead initiatives to eliminate waste without sacrificing performance.

Systems Engineering: Act as a core software engineer on cross-functional projects, developing the internal tools, APIs, and services that power our data and AI products.

Strategic Alerting: Architect a proactive notification system that prioritizes critical system failures over noise, ensuring the engineering team remains focused on high-value work.

Automated Governance: Build intelligent automation to manage the lifecycle of compute resources, ensuring environments are provisioned safely and decommissioned automatically when not in use.
