Full Job Description

As a Student SCPHN Health Visitor you will play a vital role in ensuring that every child gets the best possible start in life, developing the skills to lead the Healthy Child Programme.

  • Work with families to identify health needs in children 0-4 years as early as possible
  • Apply theoretical knowledge to practice placements to develop high-quality, evidence-based assessment and care
  • Safeguard and protect children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • Travel across Surrey to meet both educational and clinical requirements of the course

    Registered with the NMC as a Nurse or Midwife
  • UK resident
  • Demonstrate either: achievement of an undergraduate degree OR completion of a Diploma in Nursing
  • A full UK driving licence is required
  • Desirable:
  • Completion of a recent Level 6 (or above) module

    HCRG Care Group is excited to offer funded SCPHN (Specialist Community Public Health Nursing) training posts for the course starting in January 2027.
  • We are looking for dedicated, reflective, and dynamic Nurses or Midwives who are passionate about making a real difference to children, families, and communities across Surrey. This year we have 6 Health Visitor SCPHN student posts available across Surrey. The course is delivered exclusively through Oxford Brookes University and leads to a Master's level qualification., We change lives by transforming health and care.     The SCPHN programme at Oxford Brookes University is a Master's level course (PG Dip / MSc) and is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. The course combines online distance learning with supervised practice placements:
  • Online distance learning - 2 days per week (theoretical and academic component)
  • Practice placement - 3 days per week (clinical learning and hands-on experience)
  • The 50/50 split of theory and practice ensures you develop both academic and clinical skills
  • Upon completion you will be registered as a SCPHN and eligible to apply for Band 6 Health Visitor role, Competitive Pay & Pension: Band 5 Agenda for Change salary with NHS pension throughout your training.
