Are you an experienced enforcement professional looking for a new challenge within a dynamic and supportive local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Senior Enforcement Officer to join our Transport and Countryside Service, working alongside the Principal Parking Officer to ensure the effective enforcement of parking regulations and contribute to the delivery of high-quality transport services., As the Senior Enforcement Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining road safety and ensuring compliance with parking regulations. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • To assist with the effective operation of the parking service, including the enforcement of parking regulations.
  • To provide a high level of customer service to parking users, including handling enquiries, complaints, and appeals.
  • To assist with the processing of parking penalty charge notices, including reviewing representations and attending adjudication hearings.
  • To support the Principal Parking Officer in the management and administration of the parking service.
  • To carry out site visits and inspections to assess parking issues and recommend appropriate actions.
  • To assist with the implementation of parking schemes and changes, including consultation with stakeholders.
  • To maintain accurate records and databases related to parking enforcement and provide statistical reports as required.
  • To work collaboratively with other teams and external partners, such as the police and towing companies, to ensure effective enforcement.
  • To attend meetings and provide advice and guidance on parking issues., This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.

  • Proven experience in enforcement, ideally within a local authority environment.
  • Sound knowledge of parking legislation, regulations, and enforcement practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, using initiative to resolve issues, as well as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and reporting.
  • Driving licence and willingness to travel across West Berkshire.
