Full Job Description
This is an 18 month Apprenticeship opportunity in the Endoscopy Decontamination Units for one Apprentice at Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General Hospital.
The Royal Hallamshire unit operates between the hours of 7.30am - 8.00pm Monday to Friday, the Northern General unit operates within the hours of 8.00am - 10.00pm Monday - Thursday, 8.00am - 8.00pm Friday and 10.00am - 6.00pm Saturday.
As this is an Apprentice role the post holder will be Supervised at all times they may be required to work on either of the Trusts sites where decontamination services are performed.
The holder will train alongside the technicians and be provided with support from the department Supervisors and the Decontamination Manager., To reach the targets and goals required by the Trust DecontaminationManager in line with the National standards and support the development of a quality system to ensure the highest standards are met for the services users and in turn for the patients of the Trust.
To ensure all scopes required for use are collected, decontaminated and returned within the agreed time limit, to assist all service users in the provision of their Service and in the event of a fast-track requirement.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 18 months due to this being an apprenticeship/training programme. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.
Please note all existing NHS staff will only be considered on a secondment basis. This must first be agreed with your current line manager.
A learner/applicant must be a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake an apprenticeship training programme.
The apprentice allowance as specified in the Minimum Wage Regulations will be paid for the first 12 months. The rate will increase after 12 months in line with these regulations for anyone that is age 19 or over.
