Full Job Description

Social Work Assistant

Role Responsibility

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Social Work Assistant in the West Kent Disabled Young People's Team. The service has been in place for over six years now and this is an exciting time to join our growing and dynamic team as we build and consolidate good practice in this area of social work.

You will be involved in assessing the needs of disabled young people as they transition into adulthood and planning with them support to build their skills and independence. Our teams consist of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants and you will be required to support the role of the Social Workers within the team and also to have an allocated caseload yourself. You will be required to work closely with our colleagues in Children's Social Work Teams, a range of teams within the Lifespan Pathway and other key agencies such as Health, Education and the voluntary sector.

Kent County Council offers a hybrid working model with a combination of home and office working. The contractual base is Worrall House, Kings Hill, West Malling. The team covers a large geographical area and there would be an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole area covered by the team.

You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deliver the highest quality service to disabled young people, their families and carers. Experience in either Children's or Adult's Services would be essential.

This post is considered by Kent County Council to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Interviews will be held on Monday, 30 June 2025 and Tuesday, 1 July 2025 at Worrall House, Kings Hill.
