Full Job Description

Walsall Council's Employment and Skills Team has a strong track record of delivering high-quality employment and training support to residents for over a decade. This is an opportunity to join a committed and high-performing team that delivers employer engagement projects and strategic initiatives designed to improve life chances of our residents, strengthen local communities and support inclusive economic growth across the borough.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and suitably experienced individual to support the delivery of the award-winning Walsall Works programme and a range of grant-funded employability initiatives. These programmes play an important role in supporting unemployed and economically inactive residents to access sustainable employment, training and progression opportunities

The postholder will lead and co-ordinate engagement with local partner organisations, employers and training providers, ensuring strong collaboration across service sectors to support the Council's employment and skills objectives. The role requires the ability to develop effective working relationships, identify opportunities for partnership working and align employment and training provision with the needs of residents, employers and the wider local economy.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record in project co-ordination, employer engagement and partnership development, supported by excellent communication and influencing skills. They will be capable of working collaboratively across organisational boundaries, building credibility with key stakeholders and supporting employers to develop corporate social responsibility activity, promote positive action schemes and maximise social value opportunities linked to major regeneration and investment programmes.

The postholder will also lead on the collection and interpretation of labour market intelligence and the analysis of economic data to identify emerging trends, understand barriers affecting residents and inform service planning. This intelligence will support the development of targeted recruitment solutions, strengthen workforce skills planning and ensure the Council's employability offer remains responsive, evidence-based and aligned to local need.
