Full Job Description
Employment can transform someone's confidence and future. As an Employment Advisor, you will help make that happen. This role combines employment coaching with proactive sales. You will manage a caseload of people working towards employment, helping them identify suitable work, improve applications, prepare for interviews and develop the routines employers expect. You will also make cold sales calls to employers who may not know Get Set UK.You will introduce our service, uncover recruitment needs, promote suitable candidates, handle objections and turn conversations into vacancies, interviews and jobs. Sales is not an occasional addition. It is a core and measured part of the role. Success is measured by people starting and sustaining work, not simply by having positive conversations. You will need empathy, commercial confidence, persistence and the ability to challenge constructively. A day in the role Your morning may include improving a CV, preparing someone for an interview and challenging a person who has repeatedly missed agreed actions. Between appointments, you cold-call employers, ask about recruitment plans and make the case for interviewing your candidates. You also follow up leads, applications and people who have disengaged. Some people progress quickly; others need consistency. The reward is seeing someone secure an interview, start work or realise they are capable of more than they believed. The parts people can underestimate You will need to be comfortable with:
- Managing a caseload of approximately 55 people.
- Delivering up to 8 appointments on a busy day.
- Making regular cold sales calls to employers.
- Hearing "no", handling objections and continuing professionally.
- Working towards vacancy, job-start and sustained-employment targets.
- Following up non-attendance and incomplete actions.
- Completing accurate case notes promptly.
- Receiving feedback and being accountable for results.
- Working from the office. This will suit someone who likes clear expectations, visible results and taking ownership. It is less likely to suit someone seeking a largely remote role or a coaching position without sales and measurable outcomes. What you need to bring You do not necessarily need employability experience. You may have worked in recruitment, business development, careers, education, housing, sales, customer service, retail or hospitality leadership. What matters is evidence of:
- Supporting, advising or influencing people.
- Achieving sales, performance or outcome targets.
- Starting conversations and creating opportunities.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Strong organisation and reliable follow-through.
- Resilience when progress is slow or an employer says no. We will teach you about employability programmes, employment coaching, employer engagement, our systems and compliance requirements. What success looks like Within 90 days, you should be managing a full diary, delivering purposeful appointments and maintaining accurate records. You should also be making confident cold calls, building an employer pipeline and promoting candidates effectively. You will receive structured training, management support and regular feedback., Please review your CV carefully. In this role, you will advise others on CVs and job applications, so your own should demonstrate the standard you would recommend to a customer. It should be clear, current, accurate and tailored, with evidence of achievements rather than duties alone. We will assess both your experience and how effectively you present it. Our recruitment process The process normally includes a short application questionnaire, CV review, a ten-minute recruiter conversation, an online role assessment completed within 48 hours and a hiring-manager interview with a realistic role exercise. Eligibility You must have the full right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role. Any offer will be subject to satisfactory references, right-to-work and safeguarding checks, and a DBS check where required. If the purpose, challenge and sales responsibility appeal to you, we would be pleased to hear from you.
