Emerging Music Leader

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and aspiring musician to develop their leading and teaching skills within small group and whole class settings with young people across Leicester and Leicestershire. You'll work alongside an existing instrumental and / or singing teacher to observe and peer teach whole class instrumental and / or lessons within schools. You will develop your teaching skills to lead whole class teaching. You will learn classroom behaviour management techniques, find out about appropriate teaching repertoire and access whole Music Hub training. Alongside your teaching you will carry out the Level 4 Certificate in Music Education through Music Education Hubs East Midlands (MEHEM). You will attend face to face training sessions and carry out independent learning to achieve the qualification. To achieve the CME there will be independent work for the CME that will need to be carried out within your own time. • Music Qualification (ABRSM, music college or similar) with a commitment to obtain the Certificate of Music Educators during 1 year employment
• Experience of working with young people
• Knowledge of government priorities for music education and knowledge of safeguarding children legislation and practice in schools and knowledge of repertoire and resources for KS2
• Good interpersonal skills; able to use tact and diplomacy as required
• Self motivated, organised and committed to own development as an educator and be able to be be a creative, reflective practitioner
• Enthusiastic about the value of music education
• You must possess a valid driving licence and have use of own vehicle, be able to travel and work from various locations throughout the county and city and travel between sites as required in a cost-efficient way.
