Emergency Management Officer

We are working closely with a local authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of an Emergency Management Officer, on a 12-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., Cardiff Council is seeking a proactive and resilient Emergency Management Officer to support the development and delivery of the Council's emergency preparedness, response, and recovery arrangements. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act and other statutory obligations by developing emergency plans, coordinating training and exercises, strengthening business continuity arrangements, and supporting multi-agency responses to incidents. Responsibilities:

• Deliver work programmes to ensure compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act and other relevant statutory requirements.
• Lead designated specialist work streams, with responsibilities allocated by the Principal Emergency Management Officer.
• Organise and participate in emergency exercises to test plans and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provide support to the Council's response to emergencies and incidents during and outside normal office hours.
  
  Educated to degree level standard or able to demonstrate equivalent work-related attainment., Good understanding of local and regional government structures and systems.
• Understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act and other relevant statutory legislation.
• Experience developing plans, policies, procedures, or operational guidance.
