Full Job Description

Join Metworks as an Electrician and be part of a skilled repairs team that helps keep residents' homes safe, warm and well maintained. This is a secure, permanent role with a stable workload, modern equipment and the support of an established in-house repairs team. We'll make sure you have the van, tools, equipment and technology you need to do the job well from day one. If you take pride in quality workmanship and delivering a good customer experience, we'd like to hear from you. Working hours/pattern: 40 hours per week within an 8am-6pm operating window, with participation in a planned rota for second shift and out-of-hours call-out. Rotas are agreed in advance, shared fairly across the team, and call-out attracts additional payments. What you'll get:

  • Opportunity to increase your earnings through overtime and paid call-out arrangements
  • Company van and fuel card
  • Full set of power tools, uniform, PPE, tablet and mobile phone
  • 37 days' annual leave, including bank holidays, plus the option to buy or sell up to 5 days
  • Up to 9% matched pension contribution
  • Health Cash Plan and life assurance cover worth 3x your salary
  • Training and career progression opportunities
  • Access to a wider range of employee benefits and support
  • What you'll be doing: You'll carry out electrical repairs, fault finding, testing, inspection and minor works in residents' homes, mainly as part of our responsive repairs service. You'll manage day-to-day jobs across your local patch, work safely in occupied properties, provide a professional service to customers, and help ensure homes remain safe, compliant and well maintained. You'll also support the wider team through planned rota arrangements for second shift and out-of-hours call-out.

  • Experience working in social housing or a local authority environment is preferred, but not essential
  • Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services - Electrical Installation, or equivalent
  • 18th Edition qualification, or willingness to complete this with support from us
  • Ideally, a Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing and AM2 certificate
  • If you have the core electrical qualifications and a strong customer focus, we'd still encourage you to apply even if you do not have direct social housing experience. Driving requirements:
  • A full UK manual driving licence and the ability to meet our fleet insurance requirements.
  • A minimum of one year of significant driving experience, subject to meeting our company fleet insurance requirements
  • Background checks: To support our commitment to safe, high-quality services, we will complete a standard DBS check once an offer of employment is made. You will also be added to the DBS Update Service, with a new check carried out every three years. The cost of the DBS check will be paid by the organisation.
