Full Job Description
At Airbus in our Spacecraft Production organisation our Electrical Test Systems Engineers are responsible for the setup and configuration of electrical test equipment. The Engineers are also responsible for supporting electrical test activities during the operations phase alongside the range of Antenna and Payload products built and tested in Portsmouth. We are a multifunctional team of approximately 15 working on the Airbus OneSat program-which is a modular geostationary satellite operating 36,000 km above Earth that can be fully reconfigured in orbit-adjusting its coverage, capacity, and frequency on the fly via an integrated ground software suite. What you will be doing: During this placement, you will be responsible for preparation and deployment of test equipment for the electrical & thermal test phases of the project life-cycle. These may include any or all of the following: Core Responsibilities:
- Test System Setup & Validation: Build, configure, and validate test infrastructure, including Eurostar Neo control racks, electrical integration software, TMACE thermal monitoring racks, Neo block desk consoles, Payload Power Supply Units (PPSU), and bespoke software.
- Harness & Equipment Design: Design and validate custom harnesses and support equipment for product and test validation.
- Operations & Test Execution: Evaluate payload performance against requirements, analyze non-conformances, and provide hands-on clean room support.
- Innovation & Process Improvement: Drive R&D initiatives, technological innovations, and process improvements within the Airbus DS Open Innovation framework.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure "Right First Time" inputs for clean room deployment while actively tracking and mitigating non-quality issues. Key Attributes & Working Conditions:
- Collaboration: Adaptable across multi-stakeholder environments, proactive in problem-solving, and capable in customer-facing roles.
- Schedule: Primarily standard day hours (core + flex) with occasional shift work during operational test phases.
Studying towards a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering; - An interest in Telecommunications, Aerospace industry, military engineering;
- An interest in automatic test systems and result processing, including .xml schemas;
- A basic understanding of electrical test equipment & electrical measurements;
- Communication skills being able to communicate confidently to internal and possibly external customers;
- Able to work autonomously in a proactive and responsible manner.
- Problem solving;
- Previous use of electrical test equipment. Desirable:
- Ability to follow instructions, develop it further and build reports;
- Space / Aerospace interest, and other high reliability engineering;
