Full Job Description
Medway Power Station are recruiting an Electrical Technician to join our maintenance team. This is a critical role in ensuring thermal energy generation as part of SSEs flexible, essential power portfolio. Reporting to the Daywork Support Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining electrical apparatus and equipment to high standards, ensuring maximum plant availability and reliability. Some of your other main accountabilities will include;
- Carrying out both planned and emergent works on all electrical assets at Medway Power Station, implementing Safe Systems of Work.
- Producing Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Safety Plans to ensure safe work practices.
- Managing plant breakdown maintenance and supervising contractor workers when required.
- Diagnosing faults, identifying plant improvements and enhancing overall plant reliability and efficiency.
- Proactively promoting and engaging with the company's safety culture to ensure all team members go home safely each day.
An Electrical Apprenticeship or HNC in Electrical Engineering - Knowledge or experience in CCGT Power Plant Maintenance, or a relevant background in another process industry.
- A broad understanding of Health and Safety at work; an IOSH or NEBOSH certificate would be advantageous.
- An electrical qualification such as City and Guilds 2391 (Periodic Inspection and Testing) and C&G2382 (BS7671 Wiring Regulations) are desirable.
- Experience maintaining electrical apparatus and machinery, including HV and LV switchgear, motors (AC/DC), motorised actuators, motor starters, and power transformers would be advantageous.
