Electrical Engineering Trainer / Assessor

As our Electrical Engineering Assessor, you'll support apprentices in college and with employers, helping them make progress towards Gateway and End Point Assessment. You'll review evidence, carry out workplace assessments, complete progress reviews and give clear feedback that helps apprentices understand what they need to do next. This role is about more than checking paperwork. You'll help apprentices connect what they learn with what they do at work. You'll support employers to understand apprenticeship requirements and help make sure learners are developing the right knowledge, skills and behaviours. You may already be an experienced assessor. You may be an electrical engineering professional looking to move from industry into education. If you have strong industry experience and want to help develop the next generation of engineers, we can support you to gain the assessing and teaching qualifications required for the role.

• Support electrical engineering apprentices in college and the workplace.
• Carry out progress reviews with apprentices and employers.
• Assess workplace evidence through observations, professional discussions and portfolio reviews.
• Help apprentices prepare for Gateway and End Point Assessment.
• Set clear targets and provide feedback that supports progress.
• Maintain accurate records using OneFile and other college systems.
• Identify apprentices who need additional support and act early.
• Work with employers to create opportunities for apprentices to develop competence.
• Support quality assurance, standardisation and audit activity.
• Keep your electrical engineering knowledge current and connected to industry practice.
  
  A recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Relevant industry experience within electrical engineering.
• An assessor qualification, or willingness to achieve one with our support.
• Strong knowledge of safe working practice in engineering environments.
• The ability to coach, mentor or support others to develop.
• Confidence working with employers and workplace mentors.
• Good organisation and accurate record keeping.
• Confidence using digital systems, or willingness to learn.
• Understanding of apprenticeships, Gateway, EPA or vocational assessment would be helpful, but we can support you to develop this knowledge.

• You're willing to gain role-related assessing or teaching qualifications if you do not already hold them.
Electrical engineering apprentices need more than technical knowledge. They need someone who can guide them through the apprenticeship journey and help them prepare for Gateway and End Point Assessment with confidence.
