Electrical Engineering Apprentice

Introduction

This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in vehicle construction, manufacturing and practical engineering to develop valuable skills while studying towards a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.

Advanced Emergency Vehicles (AEV) designs, develops and manufactures innovative emergency service and frontline vehicles for customers across the UK. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Coachbuilder Apprentice to join our production team and begin a rewarding career within the emergency vehicle industry.

What You'll Do

Throughout the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be trained to:

• Read and understand basic electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Install electrical wiring looms and harnesses into emergency vehicles.
• Fit electrical components including switches, relays, fuse boxes, control modules and distribution systems.
• Install emergency warning equipment such as lighting, sirens and communication systems.
• Terminate and connect electrical wiring using approved techniques.
• Carry out electrical testing using appropriate equipment.
• Assist with diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults.
• Complete work in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality standards.
• Learn how to use a range of hand and power tools safely.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Work closely with colleagues across production to ensure vehicles are completed to schedule.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the electrical department.
