Full Job Description

At UK Power Networks, your work will help keep homes, businesses and communities connected. We're looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Design team, where you'll play a key role in delivering safe, innovative and high-quality designs across a varied portfolio of asset and customer connection projects.

Make a Real Impact

Reporting to the Design Lead, you'll produce and assure electrical designs that meet scope, cost, quality and programme requirements. You'll develop concept and detailed designs, ensure compliance with UK Power Networks standards, CDM regulations and industry codes, contribute to technical and procurement documentation, and work closely with operational teams to support projects from initial enquiry through to energisation and completion.

As a senior engineer, you'll champion safe design practices, support design assurance activities, collaborate with customers, partners and external organisations, and mentor colleagues to help build technical excellence across the team.

You'll have experience in electrical engineering and power system design across 132kV, 33kV, 11kV and intermediate voltages, together with knowledge of DNO, ENA and industry standards. You'll be confident working independently, approving designs within your area of expertise, and applying CDM principles throughout the design process. Experience with AutoCAD is essential, while Bentley software knowledge would be advantageous. A degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline is required.

Alongside a salary of £84,160, you'll receive a car allowance, 3% bonus and hybrid working, with three office days and two remote days following probation. Benefits include a generous pension with up to 10% employer contribution, 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, reservist leave, season ticket and tenancy deposit loans, cycle-to-work and green car schemes, discounted gym membership, employee assistance support and a wide range of retail discounts.

Ready to Join Us?

If you're passionate about delivering engineering excellence and want to help shape the future of the electricity network, we'd love to hear from you.
