Full Job Description

1. To assist in the delivery of Educational Psychology Services to learners and their families.
2. To provide psychological support and advice to preschool, school and post-16 settings.
3. To use psychology to assist Merthyr Tydfil Local Authority in meeting the needs of children and young people and fulfilling the LA's statutory obligations.
4. To assist in the identification of strengths and difficulties of children and young people who have Additional Learning Needs (ALN) within the County Borough. To advise appropriate provision to meet their ALN.
5. To take a lead role in assisting settings, teachers, parents and other partner agencies with regards to ALN reform.
6. To deliver interventions, including therapeutic work and training as needed.
7. To assist in research that enables the progressions of positive, evidence-based practice at all levels within the LA., All employees are required to comply with their individual and organisational responsibilities under the Data Protection Act, the Information Security Policy and relevant supporting operational policies. Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
