Full Job Description
Looking to make a difference in a young person's life?, Quokka Education is supporting a mainstream secondary school in the Gosport area to recruit several Teaching Assistants for immediate starts. These are full-time temporary positions, Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm, with the potential to lead to permanent opportunities for the right people. The school is looking to move quickly, so if you're available now or at short notice, we'd particularly like to hear from you. Whether you're an experienced TA or LSA, a graduate, support worker, sports coach, youth worker, care worker or simply someone who wants to make a positive impact, we'd love to hear from you. The school has recently celebrated its best-ever GCSE results, making this a great time to join a supportive and ambitious school community. No previous school experience is essential. What matters most is that you're proactive, supportive and able to build positive relationships with young people. What you'll be doing You'll support students with additional needs within their normal mainstream classes, working with different students and year groups and providing a mixture of 1:1 and small-group support. You'll be expected to:
- Support students with a range of additional learning needs
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support within lessons
- Be proactive in identifying when students need additional help
- Build positive and consistent relationships with young people
- Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning
- Work closely with classroom teachers and the school's SEND team What you'll gain through Quokka Education Alongside your placement, you'll receive:
- Experience days before you begin
- Free CPD modules to strengthen your classroom skills
- Practical classroom toolkits and SEND training
- Ongoing guidance and regular check-ins
- Opportunities to progress into teacher training through our partner schools
- Competitive pay We recruit people with the right attitude and provide the confidence and knowledge you need before you step into the classroom. Who this role could suit We'd particularly like to hear from:
- Experienced Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants
- Graduates considering a career in education
- Support workers and care workers
- Sports coaches
- Youth workers
- People with experience supporting children or young adults
- Anyone with the right attitude who wants to make a genuine difference to young people Previous classroom experience or a relevant degree would be beneficial, but it isn't essential. Your attitude, initiative and willingness to support young people are what matter most.
As the school is looking for people to start quickly, ideally you'll already have an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service. We'll also require two professional references.
