Full Job Description
TLSA is working with a highly respected Specialist School in Stratford that caters exclusively for pupils with Autism and associated Learning disabilities. The school is seeking an experienced SEND TA to join their team on a full time, long term basis from September. This Specialist School provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils receive tailored support to help them develop academically, socially, and emotionally. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will support students with Autism across a range of age groups and abilities, helping them access learning and develop independence. What You'll Be Doing Daily
- Supporting students with Autism on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning programmes
- Supporting communication using visual aids, PECS, Makaton, and communication devices
- Helping students develop social interaction skills
- Implementing behaviour support plans and sensory strategies
- Encouraging independence throughout the school day
- Supporting emotional regulation and transitions between activities
- Working alongside teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals
- Recording student progress and contributing to reviews
- Supporting pupils during enrichment activities, lunch, and breaktimes
- Maintaining a safe and positive learning environment, This SEND Teaching Assistant role involves daily contact with children and regulated activity. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the welfare and safeguarding of pupils, adhering to all child protection procedures, and maintaining professional boundaries.
Previous experience as a SEND TA or SEND Teaching Assistant - Experience supporting pupils with Autism and Learning disabilities
- Experience within a Specialist School environment is highly desirable
