We are seeking a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a school within the Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), supporting young people aged 11-16 who are unable to access mainstream education. You will work closely with teaching staff to help deliver engaging learning, provide behavioural and emotional support, and help students re-engage with education. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable young people. Key Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning in classroom and alternative learning environments
• Work 1:1 and in small groups with students who may present challenging behaviour
• Assist in delivering pre-planned lessons and learning activities
• Promote positive behaviour and apply behaviour support strategies consistently
• Help students develop social, emotional, and academic skills
• Support students with reintegration into learning and improving attendance
• Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment at all times
  
  We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with young people (education, youth work, care, sports coaching, etc.)
• Remains calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations
• Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Is resilient and motivated to support students with complex needs
• Can work effectively as part of a team
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and professional boundaries
Essential:
• Experience in a PRU, SEN school, or behaviour support role
• Team Teach or de-escalation training
• Relevant childcare/education qualifications (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent)
